The in Sydney boasts of 4 floors of contemporary artwork and uninterrupted views of Sydney harbour and the Opera house from its building. Located at the Rocks, in Circular Quay this is Australia's only museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting contemporary art from around the world.

The MCA is one of the youngest of the cultural venues in Sydney. It's housed in the Art Deco-styled former Maritime Services Board Building and has 4 storeys of art works on display. The MCA houses more than 6000 works of contemporary art in diverse media. There are displays of aboriginal photographs, drug addict themed artworks among many others. The new acquisitions of 2009 that are currently on display include artists like Benjamin Armstrong, Aleks Danko, Nicholas Folland, Christopher Hanrahan and Newell Harry.

The MCA plays a vital role in supporting Australian artists and acquiring their work as part of the MCA's permanent collection. Part of its attraction is a continually changing program of exhibitions which lend a freshness to its displays. You can check out the upcoming and current events here.

There is an MCA Museum Store, and the MCA Cafe too in its premises. The museum organizes a range of free daily tours and exciting seasonal events to give art-lovers insight into contemporary exhibitions. Free guided tours of exhibitions are conducted daily at 11am and 1pm weekdays, 12 noon and 1.30pm weekends.
