Looking back over the past few months of home refinement and not being able to get out and about to my usual favourite events has made me realise and appreciate all the things I once did that I probably took for granted as always being available. One of those things was being able to attend weekend markets as they were always in plentiful supply. We need to be mindful that most stallholders use markets as their primary source of income and the peak of the COVID crisis must have been devasting for them.

The Murwillumbah Makers & Finders Market has now reopened in the newly renovated Knox Park and MArts Precinct in the town. Since the closure back in March, this news comes with a welcome smile and organisers are asking residents and visitors to come and support their next market on Saturday 18th July 2020 from 9.00am to 2.00pm and each third Saturday of the month thereafter.

Reconnection is the theme as we all get back to buying from our favourite suppliers and they too are excited to reconnect with their customers, some of who they recognise from continual patronage.

The Makers & Finders Market stallholders have a commitment to environmental principals of reducing waste, reuse and upcycling, so their wares consist of a wide range of handmade, one-of-a-kind items, gifts and crafts with plenty of artistic flair. As well other vendors will be selling pre-loved goods, vintage and collectables along with local produce.

Across the road from the park, you will be able to watch the live demos provided by local sculptures and ceramicists in the MArts Precinct, , an art deco building where markers and artists come together.

After you have wondered around the market, you may like to throw a picnic blanket under the trees in Knox Park and enjoy the delicious street food while listing to the independent musicians playing on the day. Children can enjoy their time at the renovated adventure park or go for a skate or a game of tennis.

If you are wanting to hold a stall on the day, you must book in advance. There are no "on the day" stalls. Due to the social distancing rule, a limit on stallholders on market days will occur. For more information, please go to the website here .

Make it a date and do not forget to bring your bags to help with the aim to upcycle and reuse.
