New to Canberra, I love exploring this city and the secrets that it holds with my family.
Family fun & farm animals, minutes from Canberra
Murrumbateman is a rural village, 20 minutes north of Canberra. It is the home to the Canberra Wine District, a popular tourist attraction for visitors and Canberra local's.
Once a year the town comes to life and more than 20,000 people of all ages visit the Murrumbateman Field Days to see over 400 exhibitors. This year is the 37th year of the event, with popularity growing each year.
Held over a weekend, it is a time for the local rural community to get together to compare farming techniques and look at the newest range of tractors and machinery.
For city slickers it is the perfect opportunity to learn about local industries in the area and teach kids about rural life and where food comes from. Kids will be able to pet baby animals in the Children's Farmyard and be entertained by rides and amusements.

After your day out at the Murrumbateman Field Day, why not check out the wineries in the district before you go home. With so many award winning wineries on our doorstep, it is almost impossible to leave the area empty handed.
If you love pizza, take a trip out to Four Winds Vineyard for delicious wood fired pizzas to enjoy outside by the vines. Four Winds serve three pizzas; a potato & gorgonzola, BBQ chicken (our family favourite) and salami with black olives each weekend. With beautiful wines, pizza and beers available, it is one way to finish off a fun day out in Murrumbateman.
