You have to be a certain type of '
crazy' to meander 2500kms in a
tinny! It helps if you have other inmates suffering from the same kind of crazy as you. The kind of crazy it's going to take is someone 'crazy for life', 'crazy for adventure', 'crazy about mate-ship', 'crazy about helping those less fortunate' and most of all someone with a big 'crazy' generous heart that knows life is more than
9 to 5. If you think you fit the bill, then you best bring that crazy sense of humour with you and sign up for the
Murray Charity Meander ride of your life from
Bringenbrong Bridge to Echuca Moama from
Friday 20th February to Saturday 28 February, 2015.
Mind you, you do need a boat, a boat license and a few mates to form a team to get involved. This
Murray Charity Meander sees participating teams take on the full length of the legendary
Murray River over 3 years. The start of the 4th lap of the river begins this 2015. Teams will travel 735kms from Bringenbrong Bridge to Echuca Moama in a tiny tinny! This is not a race! It's more a contest of wits, ingenuity and social endurance and a great opportunity for community minded people to raise funds for cancer while enjoying a week long trip on the magnificent Murray.
This charity event supports the
Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia which funds Oncology Nursing Scholarships nationally and has funded more than 58 scholarships to date through Meander. This event also supports the
Otis Foundation which provides free retreat accommodation for women with breast cancer in their 17 facilities. Participants in the 2015 Meander will have the opportunity to visit the
Otis Retreat property at Towong. Since the first Meander in 2006, the event has raised more than $1,000,000 for various charities.
An excellent week on the river sounds amazing, but the main object of the event is to raise funds for breast and prostate cancer support services. Each team is expected to seek sponsorship and raise funds during the year as well as during the event. To find out more about
