Get your gateaux fix at Muratti
If you're in the mood for amazing pastries and cakes with quality and presentation in mind, Muratti is definitely a place to check out. Located on Prospect Road, this cafe offers a wide range of delicious looking gateaux
Once you've made your order at the counter, you can choose to sit indoors or outdoors. The interior of the cafe is painted a pleasant hue of red which complements the dark chairs and the wooden tables. The design is simple and elegant.
Our icy cold drinks were a welcoming sight in the heat. They tasted really refreshing and rich as well. There were little chocolate flakes in our vanilla ice cream; a nice touch that added to the delicious chocolate-y taste of the drinks.
After warding off the heat with our drinks, it was time to dig in to our dessert. My companion ordered the lemon tart.
The citrus flavour was strong and pleasant to the taste, it felt very fresh. The pastry was also good; flaky in the way it's supposed to be. I found the mini lemon at the top to be adorable, it also points to how the team at Muratti is dedicated to the fine details of their dessert.
I ordered the Muratelli, an indulgent looking individual gateau. Not only does it look fantastic, but the rich chocolate hazelnut was able to send me into a happy stupor as I sat there with my forkful of chocolate in my mouth. As I dug into the middle portion of my dessert, I was pleasantly surprised as I suddenly bit into a piece of apricot. Normally I would never think that chocolate and apricot worked together but in this case, it really did.
My experience at Muratti was a good one and I'll definitely be coming back to try the rest of their desserts and pastries on display - it's simply too hard to resist. Muratti also does cakes for special occasions and weddings, something I will keep in mind.
