Great car-free cycle track
Murarrie Recreation Reserve
I have driven past Murarrie Recreation Reserve countless times before but never stopped to check it out, until now. Whether you like cycling or have kids who are proficient cyclists and are looking for a great car-free place for a ride, I would highly recommend a visit.

Located on the Bulimba Creek Bikeway, the Reserve has its own 1.4 Km loop track with a great smooth surface. The track is 6 metres wide so there is plenty of space for lots of cyclists.
Observe the direction rules well. Cyclists travel clockwise and stick to the right whilst pedestrians must travel anti-clockwise and stick to the right. Serious cyclists whizz round at high speed so these rules are important for safety.
Make sure you go the right way
Balmoral Cycling Club runs training sessions at 5.30 am on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. They also run Category 3 racing on Saturdays from 7am.

It's a good place to go with kids who are capable cyclists, provided you find a time when it's not too busy with fast adults training. My daughter loved the smooth surafce and wide track.
For a family outing, there is also a small playground, shady picnic tables, a basket ball half court and a skate park. There's a big grassy oval inside the cycling track making a good spot to watch the cyclists go by.

There's plenty of parking and toilet facilities at the entrance. There are water taps spread out along the loop if you need to re-fill your water bottle. Next time, I'm bringing my rollerblades.
