Balcombe Estuary mural

For years I have walked past these murals without actually stopping to look at them. I have noticed them in the past and commented that they are nice but that was the extent of it.
Mural at Shire Hall Beach

As I was walking past Shire Hall Beach in Mornington, I was amazed by this 'new' mural and was interested in finding out who painted it. When I got close, I realised all four sides of this water station had beautiful murals, and the 'new' murals were actually painted in 2006!

Shire Hall Beach

These murals were painted by Tony Sowersby, Lynette Young, Jaccob Arnold and Phil Wiseman in May 2006.

After seeing this mural had been there for so long and I hadn't noticed it, I thought I would see what other murals were in the area.

Balcombe Estuary mural

I found this lovely bird mural at the entrance road (Mirang Av) to the Balcombe Estuary Reserve in Mt Martha. I found it was also painted by the same artists in 2006. As it turns out, South East Water commissioned the murals and there are many more.

mural opposite Mt Martha Primary

This mural is opposite the Mt Martha School on Glenisla Drive, and was painted with the help of the Grade 3 and 4 school children.

You will find another on Penticost Road in Mornington, which I haven't got a photo of, but it is a very large mural of a girl drinking water.

Another mural was painted with the help of Year 8 students from Mornington Secondary Collage.

There is also a 50th anniversary of filming on the beach mural in Mt Martha, painted in 2008.

There are also many other murals that I am yet to discover painted by Tony Sowersby, that I found on his website.
