For those wanting to escape the city you can head 16 kilometres south east of Perth to the which has walking, cycling and dog friendly tracks to follow.

Many of the footpaths are uneven and feel quite untouched, which is great for those who like a good wilderness walk but for those unsteady on their feet maybe stick to the flatter areas. I highly recommend enclosed and sturdy footwear, partly for the terrain but also the large ants that were marching about.

Mundy Park has some great scenic spots around the walks, such as the granite outcrops, water falls and in spring beautiful flora displays. As well as from the top of the park some picturesque panoramic views of the surroundings and the city.

On a sunny day the outcrops would be a great place to sit, maybe have a picnic and cool off those tired feet in the water, and an even better place for the dog and kids to safely go exploring and find their inner Rambo.

Nearby is the shire of Kalamunda which has a rather quaint atmosphere to it and offers multiple options for somewhere to eat or browse the boutiques. A good day trip for a city break.
