A Gifted Little Story
There is no better time than Christmas to remember that the perfect gift is so often the one that is made by hand, given with thoughtfulness and offers reward to both giver and receiver through the pleasure of great craftsmanship.
"The Tinderbox", mixed media on board by Kelly Comber
As another year of fine art, craft and design draws to a close, the Mundaring Arts Centre has invited members of Perth's arts community to demonstrate the diversity and strength in their creativity by creating original, handmade artwork for our Christmas exhibition, Gifted.
Promising to be a delightfully colourful and imaginative exhibition in diverse mediums, participating artists include Alan Muller, Anne Williams, Beth Baker, Garry Zeck, Heather Davis, Helen Clarke, Jacqui Crossley, Jessica Jubb, Kieran Ingram, Kirsten Sivyer, Madeleine Clear, Moira Court, T Brian Aylward, Una Bell, Vanessa Curley and Willem Heyneker.
To complement Gifted, artist in focus Kelly Comber explores fairy tales and the magic of story-telling in Little Story. Comber works in a variety of media, utilising skills developed through jewellery design, industrial design and a Fine Arts Degree through Curtin University.
After concentrating on family life for the last few years, Kelly has returned to her art with renewed enthusiasm to entertain and inspire her audience by exploring the nature of truth through fragments of images, and notions of enchantment and moral peril.
