Become an Egyptian embalmer
Learn all about the ancient Egyptian art of embalming

Calling all kids aged 9 - 14 years - want to make your own "mummy"? Ready to step back in time to Ancient Egypt and become a temple embalmer? This 45 minute workshop promises plenty of afterlife antics. The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology will run the workshop as a follow up to The Mummy Exhibition which is currently on display at The Queensland Museum, Southbank.

Watch out or you might become the mummy

Children will learn in a fun, interactive environment all about mummification - using some replica artefacts they will learn how Egyptians embalmed their bodies and prepared them for the "afterlife." Someone might be the priest placing amulets, someone might be the one to extract body organs - it all sounds rather gruesome but a ton of fun.

Discover the secrets of the pyramids

At $8.65, this workshop is a bargain. Accompanying adults are free and they are encouraged to attend as audience members. Bookings are essential (via the website) and places are limited, so get in early for your Mummify DIY experience now.
