There are some truly delightful cafes and eateries within Redland City, designed to capture both the views across Moreton Bay and the cooling breezes. On your behalf I have been testing them one by one. Someone has to take a bullet for the team, right?

Recently, I came across a cafe without a water view, which, on a Sunday morning in the Redlands, equates to no queues and customer service plus.

in Panorama Drive, Thornlands, next door to the Redlands Special School, is a small venue with a big heart. Overlooking the towering gums that fill the reserve next to the school grounds, offers the tree change rather than the sea change.

Situated in a nondescript suburban shopping centre, with heaps of off street parking, Muma'z offers both indoor and outdoor dining. In fact, they have a room to the side, overlooking the eucalypts and with herb beds planted along the inside walls, which you can reserve for group functions - either for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I attended with a group of young, trendy Sydneysiders recently, and despite sitting outside the front of the cafe near the car park, it is not so busy as to be a distraction. We dined to a chorus from kookaburras and lorikeets - and a lot of laughter

The Muppet, as usual enjoyed a Big Breakfast, whilst I can be pious and admit to a healthy breakfast of mushrooms on toast with haloumi. Delicious.

The beauty of is that it is casual and you can take the whole family. Or you can meet up with a girlfriend for coffee and cake, or even a healthy salad lunch. Meals can be sit down or takeaway, though personally I am a fan of not having to wash-up. What about you?

Several evenings throughout the week, Muma'z is open for dinner, and I believe that the fish and chips are very popular with locals.

This little cafe is embracing the local community and visa versa. They have special event nights where you can order your fish and chips dinner and watch the sporting events on the TV. How's that for creating ambiance and community?

Muma'z is open at the following times:

Monday : 6am to 2pm
Tuesday : 6am to 2pm
Wednesday : 6am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm
Thursday: 6am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm
Friday : 6am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm
Saturday : 6am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm
Sunday : 6am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm

I am looking forward to sampling the fish and chips - for research purposes only, you understand.
