Multicap is a high needs disability support organisation that has been providing opportunities and programs across Queensland for over 50 years to suit the individual needs of their clients within the local community. Support is provided to people with multiple disabilities families and carers. Multicap was started in 1962 due to the need of six families who could not obtain suitable support for their children with multiple disabilities. From humble beginnings, it now has over 500 families benefiting from its services and facilitates several programs available across Queensland.
This annual event provides a great opportunity for people with disabilities to interact with the community and enjoy a fun-filled day. This festival provides families and children including siblings, an important chance to bond, make new friends and share stories in a fun environment. Crowd numbers are usually upwards of 1000 people due to a diverse and entertaining program, with market stalls, raffle prizes, food and entertainment that can be enjoyed by the entire family.
Highlights include the Centre of Creative Arts Exhibition called TACTILE and be sure to keep a keen eye out for a Waddle of Ducks roving around and entertaining the crowd. The ducks are part of a fantastic performance group called Blue Roo Production Company Avegates with their all abilities football program will also be in action at the festival. It's a gold coin donation to enjoy this event.
