Mulga Bill aka Harry Callinan is a master of the wood fire barbecue and operates his business as a pop-up in the Newcastle area. The surf club venue is very relaxed with plenty of sandy-footed swimming costume-clad patrons. There are beautiful beach views from the verandas or through the large windows if you choose to eat inside. Beverages including great value alcoholic drinks are available from the surf club bar.
The menu is small there were three side dishes, corn on the cob, a salad of bean, almond & feta and a chorizo potato salad for $5 each. For $14, there was a beef brisket sandwich and an Asian style pork sandwich, $2 will get you an ice-cream sandwich. It is a cash only till and you need to get in early as they have limited quantities of food and sell out quickly.
