Muffin Break is a chain of cafes that I would not normally associate with good food!
However Muffin Break in Flinders Square is definitely not just an ordinary coffee lounge. They mostly have specials for breakfast/brunch, and are an extremely busy and popular coffee lounge.
Their range of muffins are, of course, their main feature however the first time I went there I was surprised at the different foods and breakfast they have available. I had always thought they just sold muffins!
Muffins
Their muffins are some of the better ones available and there are about 20 different sorts available.
On this occasion, I shared a savoury one as they are way too large for me to eat on their own. Having not had any of their savoury muffins before, I was a bit sceptical, however it turned out to be an excellent choice having sundried tomato, Parmesan & olives in it and it was served with cream cheese on the side.
They also currently have a competition going to win a year's supply of muffins, and of course, they have the frequent coffee drinkers card - I have already had one free coffee which you get after every 5 coffees you buy.
Their bakers start early each morning, baking their delicious food including these muffins, low fat muffins, scones, cakes, quiches, pies and much more.
They have quite a good range of breakfast meals to choose from and these include toasties, croissants, banana bread, and fruity raisin toast, which can all be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee.
The time before this I ordered the special of a toastie, muffin, and two cups of coffee. The toastie had cheese and tomato on it and there are many others they make, including:
Bacon, Egg and Cheese
Cheese and ham
Cheese, ham and tomato
Other breakfast items (not all made on the same day) include:
Caramelised Onion & Cheese Croissant
Bacon, Egg & Cheese Croissant
Ham and cheese croissant
Ham & Pineapple Morning Muffin
Breakfast Burrito Vegetarian
Breakfast Banana Smoothie
They also have a range of cakes, and slices and these vary in size and price.
They are the first coffee lounge I have been to, that offer soy or almond milk at no extra charge. Their coffee is available in 3 different sizes, and they also do take away.
And what a surprise to find this on the bottom of the cup after drinking one of their cups of coffee!
Their prices are very reasonable, and staff at Flinders Square are friendly. On this occasion, we were served by Krista, who went out of her way to help with the order.
Situated opposite Coles in the Flinders Square Shopping Centre, Muffin Break is a casual, comfortable place to meet a friend and the food is varied and enjoyable, while the coffee is also good.
