I love school fetes. Back in the early 90s, this was a once-a-year event and something definitely not to be missed (other than the school disco of course). Obviously, fetes back then weren't as extravagant as they are now, but still, choirs and bands would spend months rehearsing their tunes and the Parents & Citizens Association would start to organise stalls and volunteers months ahead. There were scones, jam doughnuts and sausage sizzles to satisfy our tummies, but the most exciting thing about the fete was the ride. Yes, we had the luxury of having just one ride back then, nonetheless, I absolutely loved it. It was exhilarating and thrilling. Plus it was really cool to actually have a ride at your school for a day.

Want to take a stroll down memory lane? Well, here's your chance. Keep Saturday 18 May free and come to the Mueller College Fete . It is going to be one of their biggest event and admission is FREE!

Located in Rothwell, Mueller College is a Christian, co-education day school catering for Christian and non-Christian students. Established in 1990, Mueller has more than 1300 students from Prep to Year 12.

Now, where do I begin to describe this fantastic fete? First of all, there are stalls full of crafts, books, cakes and plants. So be sure to grab yourself a bargain! Then there's Sideshow Alley, numerous show rides plus Bumper Balls and Animal Farm with pony rides. For those skirmish fans there will be Laser Skirmish AND a Mega Paintball skirmish arena! If you miss the good old disco times, then Silent Rave is for you. Put on your headphones and dance your heart out! In addition, facepainting and showbags will be available throughout the afternoon.

When you need a break from rides, skirmish and dancing, chill out by the main stage. You'll have fun with their Annual Fete Auction, be delighted by student performances, and fall in love with guest performances by Peebo and Dagwood Clowns, Compliments of Gus, System of a Hoedown and Jason B Band. What's more, 96five Family Radio Street Machine will be making an appearance. Whatever you do, don't miss flying displays on show by MUROC model aeroplane club.

Having hunger pains? There will be a cafe and two food courts with various selections so consider your lunch and dinner sorted. But don't go home until you've seen the spectacular fireworks at 7pm, which culminates the Mueller College Fete.

Admission to the fete is free, but consider purchasing a ride armband giving you unlimited access to all show rides, Laser Skirmish and Bumper Balls. Show rides include Scrambler, Para Trooper, Dodgems, Mega Chairs, Jumping Castles, Giant Slide, Cup N Saucer and Quad Bikes. With a big selection of rides available, it is definitely worth getting an armband. They are available for purchase online for $29 each from now until 11pm Friday 17 May. If you miss this opportunity, not to worry, they can be purchased at the ride ticket booth from 12.30pm on the day for $35 each. Not a big ride fan? That's OK. Single ride tickets can be purchased for $5 each.

Sounds like a festival compared to fetes in the 90s doesn't it? Well, with food courts, rides, stalls, performances as well as skirmish, facepainting and showbags, it IS a festival. So add this event to your calendar, get your friends and family and head to the Mueller College Fete for a day of fun and action. For more information, see their website .
