Mudgee will probably always be the Hunter Valley's poor cousin in terms of the respect it generates as a wine producing region. However it does produce some fantastic plonk.
My favourite value white at the moment is the 2006 Riesling from the
Vinifera Vineyard which can be found right in the middle of Mudgee wine country. I should ask for a free case for giving them a plug!
This Sunday the Vinters of Mudgee will be setting up their stalls in Manly at the
International College of Management (a lovely venue), for the
Mudgee Food & Wine Fair. Doors will be open from 10am to 5pm.
Organisers promise the attendance of around half of the vineyards from the area as well as other miscellaneous local producers.
The
weather on Sunday looks pretty good so be sure to bring your swimming togs. Remember though folks, Constable Care says don't drink and swim.
Why? Good food, good wine, a nice day for a swim.
