It's about twenty or so minutes drive from where I live and just over an hour's drive from either Brisbane or the Gold Coast. It's worth a visit if you live in the area.

The Polish Cafe at Mt Tamborine has a great attraction in addition to its cuisine. The Australian native parrots which come to visit whilst you are dining.

There is an indoors dining room, but you will miss all the colourful excitement if you stay inside.

There are many other reasons for visiting Mt Tamborine in addition to the parrots. Much of the mountain is part of Lamington National Park. There are numerous rain forest walks, wineries to visit and many art and craft shops.

Some of the parks next to rain forest walks have toilets and barbecue facilities. My favourite is the park at north Tamborine.

If you are into adventurous activities, have a go at hang gliding.

As I mentioned, it is close to where I live. Sometimes I take a drive up to the mountain, just to enjoy the scenery and atmosphere and maybe to purchase some fresh avocados or rhubarb direct from one of the many road side stalls.
