When a friend of mine told me about a park where there was something for everyone, I knew I had to check it out. Finding new places to go with my young children is always exciting and I'm happy to say that didn't disappoint.

I wasn't sure where the main entrance to the park was along Valley Way in Mt Cotton, and I ended up pulling into the car park where a number of small shops are located. They included a convenience store and most importantly a café. At Hot Rock Café, 101 Valley Way, we were able to purchase take away coffees. They had a food and beverage menu with a display of inviting food from quiches and wraps to hot chips, and if you're dining in you can get a glass of wine or a beer. With its Parisian themed modern décor and lots of outside undercover seating, it had a lovely atmosphere.

These shops overlooked the whole of and from here we could see how large it was. As soon as we began to make our way down the steps which led into the park, the large green spaces made me feel relaxed. With a view of the lake and a coffee in my hand, I was happy.

We walked past the large skateboard park which was surrounded by greenery and we noticed there was a flying fox there too. Next to this, but a little further down the hill, we spotted the basketball court. These large open areas are great for teenagers.

At the bottom of this hill is the small lake. There are shaded picnic tables ideally found around it and there is a lovely small jetty with seating at the end. This spot is perfect for feeding the ducks. My little girl was so excited to see all of the ducks swim over to her. They were obviously fed regularly.

From here we could see the main car park which is located on the Corner of Valley Way and Bohemia Court. This is also where the toilet facilities are found.

We then made our way over to the large undercover playground. This is great for young children. With a sand base there is lots of digging fun to be had. The large climbing frame has a variety of slides suitable for toddlers and preschoolers at the one end. The other end is great for older children who want to climb. There are no swings, but as it was pointed out to me, this does make for a more relaxing trip for the parents. But let me just make it clear that I do enjoy pushing my little girl on a swing. Even if I can never push her quite as high as she'd like.

Right next to the playground is a BBQ area and two picnic tables. These large undercover areas are well positioned so you can keep an eye on your little ones while you are cooking. They also overlook the lake.

On the other side of the field and well away from the playground is a large fenced dog park. There is drinking water for your thirsty pooch and even permanent play equipment which will keep them entertained. For the dog owners there is a shaded picnic table.

Around the whole of the park there are walking paths, perfect for scooters and bikes. If you fancy getting a team together for a game of soccer there is a small pitch too.

This park has so much to offer and lots of attractive green space. If you live locally it's a must see, but it's definitely worth the drive if you want a new park to add to your list of fun things to do.
