On Sunday June 1st make a resolution to help not only yourself, but the thousands of Australians living with multiple sclerosis (MS) by joining in the annual MS Walk Fun Run Event at Albert Park Lake. Don the representative red colour, get fit, and enjoy a day out with family and friends while supporting research, funding and awareness of this lifelong disease which 1000 Australians are newly diagnosed with each year.

Starting and finishing at the Palms Lawn at Melbourne's scenic Albert Park Lake, All courses are stroller and wheelchair friendly and can be run or walked meaning the event caters to participants of all ages and fitness levels. With the Melbourne skyline as your backdrop you can amble along with friends or lace up those sneakers, put in your headphones and release your inner competitor on the lakeside track, perhaps even rivalling the formula one cars of the Australian Grand Prix also held annually at the site.

Although the event aims to place a spotlight on the invisible disease that is MS, a sense of personal achievement can be found in each footstep of its 5km or 10km courses. Simultaneously increase your fitness and raise awareness of this devastating neurological disease in an enjoyable, healthy and beneficial way, knowing that thousands of others are at the same time taking part in the Sydney and Canberra events.

All proceeds raised go towards funding essential services and support for those living with MS and race participants are able to reach the finish line and be greeted by music, food and entertainment to reward their hard work. It's important to remember , however, that the search for a cure continues on with no 'finish line' in sight for the time being - a feat hopefully facilitated by funds raised through the event.

Entry is open to both Individuals and teams so why not get together a group of friends/ family and get into the spirit by adopting either the representative red colour or getting creative with costumes -there will be prizes awarded at the end for the serious athletic contenders and flamboyant costume wearers alike.

To register or donate or volunteer, head to the event website where further details of the course and cause can also be found.
