At risk of sounding like a cliché song, if you love the sea, ships, cruising or just dreaming about any one or all of those, put Tuesday 14 November 2017 in your diary and head on down to the Outer Harbour Passenger Terminal to view the Holland America Line's MS Maasdam as she docks for her Adelaide visit.
While the name just makes me hungry for Dutch cheese, the MS Maasdam is named for the Maas River, which rises in France and flows through Belgium and the Netherlands before draining out into the North Sea.
The MS Maasdam is 780 feet long, has a maximum speed of 22.5 knots and carries 1,258 guests and 580 crew. First launched in 1993, she has 9 decks and provides a vast array of cabin types and entertainment.
MS Maasdam will come to Adelaide from Fremantle on a 13-night cruise; docking in Adelaide between 8 am and 11.59 pm, and then sailing to Kangaroo Island before heading to Sydney.
For those wishing to see MS Maasdam docked in Adelaide, head to Lady Ruthven Reserve, Lady Ruthven Road, North Haven.
The event is free and child-friendly.
