Melbourne's first & only bistro specialising in Parmagiana's
Mrs Parma's is a Bar/Bistro that specialises in parmigiana. According to their website, they are Melbourne's first and only. I love a good parma, however, a lot of pubs don't get it right. Often, the parma is soggy from the side salad, or the parma is over cooked and the cheese is dried up. Over the weekend, I decided to try Mrs Parma's. A few of my friends had tried Mrs Parma's and loved it; it was like no other parma they had tried before.

I struggled to make my mind up on which parma to choose. On their menu they have over 10 different parmas to choose from. This ranges from your traditional ham, cheese and napoli sauce to crispy bacon, fried egg and beetroot. All parmas are $24. I choose the Roasted Pumpkin Parma and my partner choose the Parma'geddon. My parma was absolutely cooked to perfection. It was saucy and the cheese was melted just right. The pumpkin was very sweet which accompanied the salty feta.

The parmas were served with chips and salad to share. I was a little bit disappointed at first that these sides were to be shared. I have never ordered a parma before with sides to share. However, after the parma arrived at our table, I could see why. The parmas are massive and nearly fill the entire plate.

The atmosphere there was very different from your regular pub. It's more intimate. Mrs Parma's Bar/Bistro seats maybe only 15 - 20 people. The lighting in there was dimmed and the walls are painted red.

The staff are really friendly and very attentive. I guess this is extremely important, as rude staff can completely ruin a meal and dinning experience.

I can't wait to return to Mrs Parma's. I already have my sites set on a few other parmas from their menu.

Are you kidding? Mrs Parmas have the worst overpriced, dried out parmas I've ever had. Try The Linc in Essendon. Best fresh parmas ever and sides are included.
