Mr V Music has just moved into a newly refurbished shop at 115 Semaphore rd Semaphore. This replaces the previous nearby premises, which owner Victor had for seven years. The bigger and better store has a wide range of new and pre-loved CD's, vinyl LP's and singles.
The walls of the spacious store will also be adorned with local quirky artwork, as Mr V had in his previous shop.
You will find a good selection of Australian and local music, 60's, blues, soul, R 'n' B, 50's, country, hip-hop, world, metal, reggae, folk, classical, jazz, soundtracks and the latest releases on CD and vinyl. They also have music DVD's, collector's items and memorabilia, and some new CD's for $10. Victor prides himself on his good collection of local and 60's-70's Aussie music through to today's.
Victor tells me that vinyl record sales have been on the incline for the last ten years. This is probably due to the fact that the old analogue system arguably produces better playback quality than today's digital recording system. It's great to see the old vinyl is still popular and gaining support amongst the younger generation!
Mr V is involved with small local music events, the Semaphore music Festival, and the twice yearly Semaphore Record Fair at St Bedes Hall. He also has a stall at the Womadelaide festival, and keeps those artists' music in stock. If you want to sell your old CD's and vinyl records for cash, check out Mr V!
Now that is an amazing coincidence - yesterday my husband was playing some vinyl and one of the bands he was playing was Garden Path, a band Vic was involved with half a million years ago when the world was young and shiny!
