I wonder what Augustus Tulk, the first chief librarian at the State Library of Victoria, would make of the Mr Tulk cafe named in his honour?
Situated on the Latrobe street side of the library, I'm sure he would be impressed with the spacious and well lit interior.
Recently I was in the city at lunch time and unsure where I could go to get a gluten free meal that wasn't chips or nori rolls. A friend had recommended we eat at Mr Tulks. Its website said it offered gluten free food. While the selection was very small - 3 dishes - it is not often a person requiring gluten free food can order a calamari salad from a cafe. At Mr Tulk, one can enjoy tender, gluten free, fried calamari for $16.50.
