One of my favourite things about going out is trying all the new places and then finding something that you truly love. This is what happened to me when I was looking for a place in the city to grab a quick bite to eat before a movie. I stumbled across the suggestion for Mr Ramen San and thought I would give it a go and I'm so glad that we did.
Situated in a quiet plaza, off little Bourke street, was this ramen restaurant and it was so unassuming that we actually walked straight past it and didn't even notice. Once we found it, I thought for a moment that I stepped into a ramen shop in Japan as it was laid out the same way that I remember them when I was there.
However, as we were pushed for time, I got straight down to business and ordered the Charsu topping with the Tonkotsu broth, and it was amazing! Firstly the noodles are made fresh every day onsite and they were perfect. Then the thick broth is made from boiling pork bones over high heat for many long hours and the charsu is stewed for many hours until it's perfect. These are not complicated ingredients but cooked with care, they all come together to make the best Ramen in Melbourne!
