The Mr Potato at District Outlet Centre in Parafield is one of a chain of restaurants in Australia that specialises in offering baked potato dishes. Diners can choose from pre-set toppings or create their own combinations in one of three sizes to best suit their appetite.

When ordering their dishes, diners can choose from IQ Spud - a variety of potato that is healthier than the normal variety, sweet potato or a combination of the two. Their IQ Spud was light and fluffy and the butter spooned over them before being loaded with toppings ensured they were not too dry.

The beef taco mince in The Po-Taco was juicy and had a good amount of flavour. Lettuce, tomato and corn provided freshness, and chipotle sauce added a smoky flavour. Completing the dish was avocado and a generous amount of crushed corn chips for a lovely crunch.

Compared to the IQ Spud, the sweet potato that we chose for the Meatless Middle East had a firmer texture and a slightly sweet flavour. The tofu & cauliflower mix retained some texture and quinoa tabouli, tomato and diced cucumber made the dish refreshing. Hummus partnered nicely with the other ingredients and olives added a hint of saltiness. Vegan mayonnaise makes the dish a suitable option for vegans.

The quantity of slowed-cooked chicken in the Drop It Like Its Hot was generous and cooked just right. Be aware that the combination of jalapenos, chilli flakes and siracha sauce does give the dish a spicy kick. Extra flavour and texture were provided by red onions and roast capsicum and a topping of fried shallots added a crunchy element.

The decor gave the place a casual feel. There are a few tables for customers who want to dine on-site. Its location makes it convenient for visitors to District Outlet Centre to grab a snack or have a meal of tasty baked potato dishes.
