Cafes are a dime a dozen. It seems that around every corner there is another cafe providing coffee, snacks, meals, drinks. Some are good, some not so, and each and every one has its own signature that enables it to stand out from the crowd. However, truly exceptional cafes are few and far between. You know the ones I mean, the ones that tick all the boxes – great coffee, great food, great atmosphere and great service.

The coffee is exceptional
One such as this is
Mr Pilgrim Cafe, located at 67 Semaphore Road, Semaphore. We found Mr Pilgrim a few months ago when searching for a cafe with the four exceptions after a previous recommendation sadly disappointed. We have been to Mr Pilgrim a few times now, usually on a Saturday morning, and have never been disappointed. I won't lie to you, it's busy, the measure of a great cafe is the number of people, especially locals dropping by for their usual. However, we have always been able to find a seat either inside or out and on a nice day, sitting outside at the long benches with coffee and cake is an immensely relaxing pass time.

At Mr Pilgrim Cafe
Along with a range of drinks, you can enjoy breakfast such as waffles or granola, or maybe stay for Nonna's Meatballs for lunch. The Wagyu Beef Burger or maybe even Fuzzy's Gourmet Cheeseburger sound delicious. If you are not really looking for a meal but just wanted that morning cake treat, Mr Pilgrim's offers a range of different types, including gluten-free. Hubby's favourite is the apple pie with or without ice cream and I absolutely adore the gluten-free Orange and Poppy Seed Cake. You know, any cafe which has a sign that says their blood type is coffee, just has to have the best around.

Apple Pie
Mr Pilgrim Cafe is closed on Mondays; let's face it, everyone deserves a day off. However, they are open Tuesday – Friday 8 am to 4 pm and Saturday and Sunday 7.30 am to 4 pm. Do yourself a favour and head into Mr Pilgrim's to tick all the boxes.
