Authentic Thai cuisine in the CBD
Mr Nice Guy signature Pork Belly
Still one of my favourite casual Thai restaurants in Melbourne, and given it's been open for lunch since 2013, it's not just my opinion.
A cosy and narrow venue hidden on Healeys Lane, the atmosphere is casual and lively with an open kitchen, where you can see dishes being prepared as they are ordered.
Whether you eat here for lunch or dinner, Mr Nice Guy offers quality and authentic Thai cuisine, at great prices. Choose from entrees, soups and salads for something light, or curries, grill, noodle and rice main dishes to share. The venue is suitable for large groups of up to 20 people, with several menu items for vegetarian and vegan diets including larb tofu!
While all the dishes we have tried here have been enjoyed, our group's recommendation for a must-have dish – the signature grilled crispy pork belly. Succulent pork aromatic with cinnamon and star anise and crispy crackling, served on a bed of Chinese broccoli with chilli and garlic a winner with everyone.
My favourite - the Pad Cha Seafood. A spicy light dressing of krachai, basil, and chilli, tossed through a generous mix of Tiger prawns, calamari, deep fried fish pieces, baby corn, and French beans.

The service is just as outstanding as the food. The staff are happy to modify dishes to suit dietary requirements. Mr Nice Guy is open from Monday to Friday, 11:30-3pm for lunch, and 5:30-10:00pm for dinner; Saturday 5:30-10:00pm for dinner. It's on my top 5 places to eat with friends.
