Open just 4 weeks ago, Mr & Mrs P are already setting the standards at 312 Bay St, Brighton (03) 9596 4468. Opening from 4pm to 11pm, they have raised the bar high as an already popular little hot spot meeting place to be seen at.
Owners and husband and wife, dynamic duo Greg and Georgie Poliwodzinski, are no strangers at establishing a standout drinking and dining experience.
Weaving a romantic story or dredging up a childhood experience is their forte. Their first venture into the hospitality industry in November 2013, the Treehouse Lounge is a testament to that.
Alive and well, the Treehouse in Balaclava is still serving up some amazing food, drink, coffee and entertainment experiences. Check them out.
Mr & Mrs P's instincts are obviously finely tuned. They saw the niche they could fill on Bay street, where there isn't a place like their establishment to go to. I do think they have hit the nail on the head, looking at the stream of people dropping in as I sat outside in the seating area on the pavement.
I saw the faces of passersby literally light up (I tell no lie) when they took a double step back at their discovery and hopped in for a drink or three. It's a perfect venue with decor that has touches of the industrial look, which I adore. Mr P is no slouch at being a creative handyman/builder/carpenter in general, and a chef at the Treehouse Lounge. Mr P and a few tradies are responsible for dreaming up and building the decor themselves. Outstanding!
Mr & Mrs P has been well thought out with well laid plans by this duo. The menu derives from pairing with chef Matthew Butcher, a young Australian chef who has worked under three world renowned chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Shannon Bennett of Vue De Monde and Ryan Clift of Tippling Club in Singapore.
Growing up in country Victoria, Matthew's passion for sourcing and cooking with local produce and serving up food that is imaginative, fun and with a touch of theatre will be seen at Mr & Mrs P.
Stopping in at this gem of a place with children galore, we sat outside with drinks and a child's favourite; chips, on our way to another event; I can't wait to go back and try out the food. Having said that, I have to say that the curly chips served with gravy on the side, was amazing. It tasted more like delicious plump calamari and the gravy was a nice touch. I was floored by the fine details in the crockery department as well. Well done Mr & Mrs P!
As I've mentioned before, just about everything has been thought about, and no doubt, lots of food porn pictures are on the way to their newly established Facebook page. The place is pumping with clientele, it's warm and inviting, and gives you three options to suit your every need. You can go al fresco and sit out front, especially if you're laden with kiddies, or you can join the vibrant energetic vibe of the bar space in the main area.
There's also a spacious courtyard area at the back down the corridor, where you can perhaps relax with your laptop and soak in the atmosphere and offerings of the venue. Bonus, you get a sneak peek of the kitchen where all the magic happens, as you walk past.
Want a more up-close-and-personal romantic dining experience? Head upstairs, climbing the meandering, beautiful timber staircase, stained to colour perfection. There you'll find a second bar and more formal dining setting. This venue definitely exudes a genuine passion for creating the perfect experience through food, wine and atmosphere. As Mr & Mrs P intended, this could be your love story where days turn into nights, with meals you never want to end and company you always want to keep.
Welcome, and last but not least, the staff are beautiful and attentive!
