Roger Hargreaves' most famed children's book series featuring Mr. Men and Little Miss characters will come to life in a very special event at Myer Melbourne's Giftorium on Saturday 29 November.

The Mr. Men characters began their fictional life some four decades ago, when Roger Hargreaves' then school aged son Adam asked "Dad, what does a tickle look like?" In response, his father drew an orange man with long wiggly arms and a blue hat, and thus 'Mr. Tickle' was born.

Following Roger Hargreaves' very first sketch was a succession of colourful animated characters that made up the staggeringly successful Mr. Men and Little Miss book series, still read and loved by children of today.

Roger Hargreaves went on to create some 46 Mr. Men and 33 Little Miss books, which made him the UK's best-selling author after JK Rowling and Dan Brown.

Roger's son, Adam Hargreaves, took over the Mr. Men and Little Miss cartoon empire after Roger died in the late 80s. Today Adam Hargreaves remains the creative consultant behind Mr. Men and Little Miss, drawing new characters to add to the collection after Sanrio acquired the franchise in 2004; Sanrio being the company behind the hugely successful Hello Kitty brand.



In this special one-off event, children and their families will get the chance to meet Adam Hargreaves and Little Miss Hug and watch the world of Mr. Men and Little Miss come to life at the Giftorium on Level 6 of Myer Melbourne in the CBD.



Adam Hargreaves will draw some of the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters and be available to sign books. Little Miss Hug will be on hand to do what she does best; give out free hugs! Little Miss Hug, created by Adam Hargreaves after Sanrio's head of design Yuko Yamaguchi's idea, is Sanrio's way of welcoming the Mr. Men and Little Miss collections to Myer Melbourne and is one of the Christmas Giftorium's star attractions.

Mr. Men and Little Miss will offer Myer customers in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney the chance to obtain a customised framed poster in two sizes with their name and Mr. Men or Little Miss character of choice.

Head down to Myer Melbourne's Giftorium on Level 6 on 29 November at 12.30 for this very special Mr. Men and Little Miss event.
