As far as local cafes go, Mr Foxx is one of my favourites. The coffee is smooth, never burnt and the jars of refined brown sugar from Costa Rica give it a delicious treacle flavour.
The décor is inviting with comfy green couches and a gorgeous chandelier and from what I can tell, the owner works in, and is very proud of her business. It's well thought out with a social conscience, offering 'Suspended Coffee's' and a little sticker letting you know it's dog friendly.
I'm a sucker for this kind of thing as it makes it a place for the whole community, and indeed, a diverse section of people, from businessmen, middle aged gossips and young couples came in and out whilst we watched the world go by.
Due to the location, this lovely coffee shop could be pretentious, but actually is far from it, the people who work there are friendly and know their stuff, this made me feel quite at home.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed a very nice flourless orange & almond cake and a very chocolately brownie. Both enjoyable and delivered fresh daily, still, I can't help but feel that if they made cakes and slices in house, they would be held to the same standard as the coffee and infinitely better.
All in all, I love a Mr Foxx, it is a wonderful local and well worth a visit.
