Jane Austen is one of the world's best-loved authors, and Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice is one of the world's best-loved love interests. He's been reimagined as a vampire, as a zombie hunter, as a dashing 21st century man - and now, for the first time, as a duck.

Mr Darcy isn't exactly a retelling of Pride and Prejudice, but it is a very cute story that will charm both children and fans of Austen. In this picture book by Alex Field, Mr Darcy is a duck (with a dashing top hat!) who is rather reserved and gentle. He rejects the pretty duck Lizzy (wearing a fetching bonnet), because he is too shy. It's only when Mr Darcy finds himself in trouble that he realises that sometimes it's okay to ask for help, especially from his friends.

Mr Darcy is very cute and even adults will find themselves smiling as they read it. Read it with your children, or give it to an adult as a surprise gift!

Need any more encouragement to go check it out? Well, did I mention Mr Bingley is a horse - with a top hat?
