Treat the kids to the ultimate in fun at Movieworld
Fascinating superheroes, adventurous rides, great games and a fantastic kids area. If you're looking for a special day out full of fun and laughter, then Movieworld is the place to come. So much glitter, sparkle, water fountains and colour.
Adult tickets are currently $89. There are several payment options for going to Movieworld. One day passes, season passes, and holiday passes. There are often discount multi-day tickets for purchase such as 7 day or 21 day holiday passes, or pay as you go plans. Options vary dependent on the promotion available, see here for ticket pricing options. The discount options are normally not very much more than the one day entry price, making an expensive family day out suddenly affordable when you can take the family over several days through the month or year for nearly the same price as one day.
The Green Lantern rollercoaster - a crowd favourite
Before you arrive at Movieworld you should plan your day to ensure that all of the fun is encompassed into your visit. It's important to balance your day between the rides and the shows, as the shows all have start times to work around. The last thing anybody wants is to spend a whole day in line for the big 4 rides and miss everything else.
I recommend checking out the website first to plan your day. This will give information on ride restrictions, ride closures and show times so you can choose what's important to you.
Movieworld has 6 Thrill Rides with a 7th one coming soon. They are loud, they are crazy and they're the ultimate in screaming, laughing ride fun. Arkham Asylum takes you deep into an asylum prison in hung carriages and is heaps of fun. Lines for this are bad during holidays but otherwise around 15 minutes wait. The Superman Escape ride is the most popular ride. A giant rollercoaster that goes at superspeed, this ride will take you the longest to line up at, with lines in excess of 45 minutes in peak holiday times. If you get there when the gates open I'd recommend going straight to this ride and lining up if it's on your to do list, to ensure you get the shortest line time.
Other popular thrill rides are the Batwing Spacedrop, the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster, the Green Lantern Rollercoaster and the Wild West Adventure Falls. Don't miss the Wild West ride, it's a traditional log ride with heaps of water fun and a hit with the whole family. Don't be disappointed if the Green Lantern ride is not working during your visit, it traditionally breaks down and is out for repair about 3 months of the year it seems. Of course all of these thrill rides have age and height restrictions, but the littlies in the family are not left out.
Main Street - Where it's loud and exciting - look out for Superheroes on every corner!
Movieworld doesn't just cater to the young at heart, the young are also in for an awesome time here. There are 3 kids rides as well as the kids area. The Justice League 3D, the Junior Driving School and the Road Runner Rollercoaster will bring many squeals of excitement. For those with toddlers and pre-schoolers, don't miss the WB Kids Fun Zone, there are junior rides here as well as all of the favourite Looney Tunes characters - Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, Porky Pig and Fog Horn Leghorn. Our daughter loves the water fountain play area where children can run around as water shoots up out of the ground around them. Bring a change of clothes for the kids for this feature - or if it's a hot day use this to cool down before the next part of your adventure at Movieworld.
The shows are fantastic here but it is difficult to fit them all into a day if you're not doing a multi-pass. My tip is to pick the two you want to see the most and do them. Otherwise you don't get time to line up for these as well as do your preferred rides all in one visit. They are the Hollywood Stunt Driver show, the Looney Tunes 4D show and the HSD2 Experience. The Looney Tunes is a great show for the kids, however be aware that due to the movement of the chairs and loudness of the show, little kids may become quite scared so it may not be good for children under 3.
The boys in the family will love the stunt driving and the HSD2 experience.
Of course there are many food outlets throughout Movieworld offering a variety of menus and snacks. They are at the usual retail pricing you would expect for a theme park. Hamburgers, icecreams, coffee, sandwiches and all manner of food is available. It is not recommended to bring your own food in, but water bottles and some snack foods to keep the kids going during the day can be brought in. The all day sipper cup is a great investment. Buy it once and you get free refills throughout your visit.
There are several shops scattered throughout Movieworld filled with all of the Warner Bros memorabilia you could want. Superhero capes, hats, mugs, plaques, apparel, key-rings, drink bottles and anything else you can think of. Most rides have photo opportunities too, part way through the ride it takes a photo of your carriage, then you can go to the photo shop and see the photo of yourself screaming on a ride, and if you like it buy it. A great momento of the day.
Before you leave make sure you see the Main Street entertainment and parade that occurs each day. The kids and big kids will love to see the Batmobile going past.
A trip to Warner Bros Movieworld is a full day of entertainment and a definite crowd favourite. If you can incorporate your ticket into being a multi-day pass or take advantage of one of the many discount options, then it makes the day a bit less expensive.
I'd highly recommend it for school holiday or birthday fun, or a special family treat.
