The Smart Way to the Movies

In Australia, there are more movie tickets sold each year than any other form of ticketed entertainment, however, when it comes to pre-purchasing tickets online, 40% of movie goers visit more than one cinema website each month in order to compare and choose session times and locations.

In a bid to simplify the process of purchasing cinema tickets online, major cinema exhibitors, Event, Hoyts, Greater Union and Village banded together to launch MovieTimes, a national service which will transform the cinematic experience for Australian movie goers.

MovieTimes is an Australian first, which brings together session details for over 120 cinemas and close to 1000 cinema screens nationwide, allowing movie goers to easily find and compare cinema sessions at major and independent cinema theatres in one single destination.

Through the MovieTimes website, one can select a movie, search a cinema, compare session times, choose a session, and pre-purchase tickets online - it's a convenient one-stop-shop that has been set up by the cinema industry to improve the cinema experience; General Manager of MovieTimes, Mark Emerson, explains:

"With the skyrocketing use of digital media by moviegoers of all ages, it was essential that a service such as MovieTimes was created. Web search is quickly becoming the key way that moviegoers make their movie-going decisions and MovieTimes removes the need for people to flick through newspapers or click from one cinema branded site to another, so they can easily compare their movie going option."

MovieTimes is monitored by the industry, so users can be confident that the information on the site is accurate and up to date and that they can use the site without irrelevant third party advertising;

"For those that use the web to do their movie searches; no longer do they have to watch an advertisement for a bank, a car or some other unrelated service before they can view the movie trailer they want to see", Mr Emerson said

Using the latest online navigational technology MovieTimes provides users with information on the cinemas in their closest proximity and preferred cinema locations and access options can also be saved.
