Ideal for group dining so you can try all the dishes
It's been rather chilly of late and on this particular night it was a freezing 5.5 degrees where a few glasses of champagne at Li'l Darlin didn't go astray. A boisterious crowd was also starting the night, but we were booked in for dinner at Movida.

As we enter into Movida, we are eye to eye with a rather large fish. A guessing game began before the waitress appeased our curiosity by letting us know that it was a huge Spanish Mackerel sitting in a tank of ice.

Sliding into a booth, a few moments with the menu and specials, an executive decision is made before the slices of bread appear on the table with olive oil to dip into. There always has to be a dish that tests the tastebuds and it was Orejas - crispy pig ear served with guindilla peppers which provided a soft heat to the dish.

Next was a platter of cold meats - Jamon serrano, pamplona cured chorizo sausage (oh yum), cured pork sausage, the signature dish achoa, an artisan Cantabrain Anchovy served with a smoked tomato sorbet which is to be spread before tasting. As this was a tapas dish there was only one serve each so lucky we didn't get too greedy at this point. As the dishes kept flowing, crunchy ilberico jamon croquettes with a cheesy middle, mouth smackingly good. A hearty tortilla with black truffle, hmmmm so good.

Then into brisket cooked over charcoal served with bbq sauce and crispy pork jowl with seared scallops and fried kipflers. It didn't feel the same without the ribs dish, getting your hands into and biting into delicious chargrilled meat off the bone, bring that back on the menu please. I'll be back at a moment's notice if that is back on the menu.

After two bottles of red or was it three, no dinner is complete without dessert. A deliciously flan of Creme caramel served with pestinos a flaky pastry, churros with rich drinking chocolate, and tarta de queso - sheep's milk cheese cake with pavlova icecream which tasted superb. It was no wonder the dessert disappeared when being shared with six people.

With a full tummy we could call it a night and brace the cold for a moment before heading home. Totally recommend Movida for dinner out with groups of people so you can try and share as many as the dishes from the menu.
