I count myself lucky to be born in Australia's coffee capital of Melbourne and love to write about what's on in my home town.

Discover ice cream heaven
Even on the coldest winter's day, the mere mention of the name Movenpick is enough to make any ice cream devotee lick their lips in anticipation, and no wonder. With flavours like Coconut & Swiss Chocolate, Creme Brulee, Blackcurrant & Cream and Grand Marnier, Movenpick is clearly not your average ice creamery.
Founded in Switzerland in the 1960s, Movenpick super premium ice cream has only recently reached Australian shores. In May 2012 it opened its doors in an unlikely, but nonetheless welcoming, location in Melbourne's eastern suburbs: the bustling Box Hill mall.
Better known for all things South East Asian, the thriving retail hub of Centro Box Hill and its surrounding cafe district provides an overwhelming array of Asian restaurants, cafes and take away venues. However, dessert bars have never really rated a mention, and this is where Movenpick really comes into its own.
Select from 24 delicious ice cream and sorbet flavours
Chic, glossy black and white decor provides a perfect foil for the sumptuous display of flavours that beckon you inside: 'Pick me!' each seems to say. Those with simple tastes can opt for a single scoop ($4.95), but if, like me, you cannot claim to be so decisive, it may be wise to grab a friend and share in the Deluxe Tasting Plate ($12.95), which allows you to select six scoops from the range of 24 ice cream and sorbet varieties.
Prefer your dessert with a side of caffeine? All the usual suspects are here: served up from a shiny red espresso machine that hums quietly alongside the dessert display. For die hard coffee fans, get the best of both worlds with a Gourmet Coffee Addiction tasting plate ($12.95), which includes a latte and a scoop of each of Movenpick's three coffee ice cream varieties.
If you are time poor, you can easily swing by the boutique and grab a waffle cone or take home tub, however there is plenty of seating inside and out for those wanting to spend a little longer in ice cream heaven.
