Marvelous moustaches - wonderful cause
The month of many marvelous, minuscule, mammoth, maverick, and mind-blowing moustaches has finally arrived with the magnificence of Movember in November. Movember has many men of Australia (and the world) creating moustache masterpieces in the name of raising funds and a greater awareness of men's health, with a specific focus on prostate cancer and male mental health.
Many of my friends, family and work colleagues have sported moustaches in the name of this fantastic cause. And despite prickly kisses and muffled mouths, such a wonderful cause completed in such a fun and unique way is definitely worth supporting first hand or via support of a whiskered participant.
[ADVERT]This amazing month of marvels has been wildly successful in the past, with Australian men raising $302 million since 2004. This has allowed for huge change in the way men's health habits are viewed and assistance raised for a variety of health issues facing men today.
This worldwide phenomenon began its success from small beginnings in Melbourne and has since expanded to include 'Mo Bros' and 'Mo Sistas' in New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, South Africa, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, and the Czech Republic, which is an incredible expansion.
Movember funds raised in Australia are now used to equally support two of the bigger men's health issues, prostate cancer and male mental health. As such, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyond blue (the national depression initiative) are the main recipient of funds raised.
Participants can register online their commitment to mould, monitor, and mature a moustache for the 30 days of Movember, allowing them to become a walking advertisement for this important cause. As stated by Movember, the moustache is worn as a badge of honour and a symbol to generate awareness, chatter, and to raise those valuable funds and support for men's health, which needs assistance and nurturing.
Growing a moustache is certainly not the only way to get involved! Movember events can be organized in the workplace, your community and the like with proceeds going to this fabulous cause. Or simply attend events and the Mo Gala, where attendees can show off their matured mo efforts.
Mo sistas are mo supporters – so don't worry you need not grow a moustache of your own, lovely ladies can assist the cause by supporting the mo in their life or by organizing fundraising events.
And if supporting a great cause wasn't enough participants are able to win a variety of prizes including monetary draws, prizes and titles such as Ultimate Mo and Miss Movember.
