The Peachester Community Hall will be transformed on Saturday and Sunday, 12-13 May when the Mountain Quilters of Peachester (Sunshine Coast Queensland) hold their biannual "It's all about the blokes'
Mega Quilt Show.
Peachester, with a population of 1259 (2011 census), has an active community that thrives on craft, conservation and all forms of the arts. Situated 9 km west of Beerwah and 11 km WSW of Landsborough, it is a popular stopping place of cyclists, motorbike riders, caravan and motorhome and back-road enthusiasts.
The Mandate Clinic (Princess Alexandra Hospital), which researches and treats men's health (prostate cancer, etc), will benefit from the sale of raffle tickets; the first prize being a "
Mariner's Quilt' valued at $5000.
In addition to the Mega Quilt Show, the historical wooden Peachester Church will feature local arts and craft. Bargain hunters will be sure to find many treasures.
Allow yourself plenty of time to browse, eat locally grown produce and drink refreshing beverages. The exhibition will open at 9 am (Saturday and Sunday) and close at 4 pm (Saturday) and 3 pm (Sunday). Refreshments will be on sale. Perhaps you may even plan to stay nearby overnight so that you can spend two days admiring the beautifully sewn quilts.
