Many Queenslanders have been moved to 'dig deep' for farmers in drought-stricken areas of Queensland this year, some of which have not seen a drop of rain for years.

If you would like to support farmers struggling with drought, the community of Mapleton is presenting a fundraising event for farmers at the Mapleton Bowl's Club on the 28th of October.

Mapleton is a small town in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland at the top of the Blackall Range, boasting terrific views of the Sunshine Coast. Surrounding areas are Nambour and Flaxton. Just a 20 minute drive away is Maleny and Maroochydore is about a 40-minute drive away.

Active community groups and services in Mapleton are coming together in support of the farmers including Mapleton Community Library, Mapleton and District Community Association, Blackall Range Gym, Mapleton State School, and the Maleny and Blackall Range Lions Club. It will be a day of music by local singers, songwriters, performers, storytellers and musicians featuring:

Kelly Cork - A seasoned country roots singer, songwriter based in Maleny.

Alisha Todd - Be taken on a musical journey with her soulful voice, melodies and jazz fusion.

Brad Butcher - A country singer whose music has received wide praise in the Australian Music Industry. He is the recipient of the "New Talent of the Year" award at the 2018 Golden Guitar Awards of Australia, and the 2018 Queensland Music Award for Country Song of the Year.

Listen to the sweet honeyed voice of nostalgic country singing, and instrumentation by Jen Mize , originally from America now based in Australia, who has received acclaim for the depth of storytelling and lyricism in her songwriting.

There will also be performances by multi-instrumentalists, songwriters, and singers Tom Richter, Bio & eSKae, Steve Sparrow, and Richo Richardson, along with local support artists. A variety of sweet and savoury food, drinks and other entertainment such as stalls and activities will be set up all day.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be distributed directly to drought-affected communities through vouchers and will be distributed by local community groups on the ground. Tickets are $25pp or $30pp at the gate and children under 12yrs are free. You can book tickets here .

Live original music always creates a wonderful atmosphere and is a real treat! So if this event appeals to you, take the opportunity to celebrate homegrown music and 'dig deep' for a worthy cause.
