Mount Tamborine is a small community located just 74kms from Brisbane city and 37kms away from the Gold Coast. It is a perfect little place to visit outside the hustle and bustle of the city. The mountain boasts some extraordinary scenic walks where you can enjoy the view over the Gold Coast. You can visit some of the waterfalls and even take a swim. In the warmer months the waterfall is a perfect place for people to relax at, either taking a swim or enjoying the heat on the rocks. There are different trails to walk to these areas with different difficulty rates and length, perfect for those who either just want to relax or those who want to trek. 'Skywalks' are also walking trails which include bridges made of steel that hang high above the canopy below, perhaps for the more adventurous walkers.
Going to Mount Tamborine without visiting the Tamborine Mountain Distillery would be a great shame. The distillery is somewhere to go both for the looks and the drinks. It is situated in beautiful gardens with very interesting detailing on the distillery. Inside the distillery you will be greeted with some extremely friendly staff. The owners who once experimented with the fruit from their property have now expanded the flavours to produce an impressive line-up of liquors and vodkas. Paying for a tasting is the most popular and easier way to experience some of these flavours, the only problem is choosing only a couple to sample. The liquors range from honeydew melon through to mint, cinnamon, ginger, and coffee flavours to name just a few.
Another great place for food, drinks and the fantastic view is Mount Tamborine's St Bernard's. This restaurant is rich with history, dating back to 1881. St Bernard's boasts an impressive view which have drawn many people to the restaurant and is often a popular venue for weddings and functions. The food is great and it's a great place to enjoy a beer or glass of wine. Here you can enjoy the view, talk with the friendly staff or enjoy a cuddle from the restaurants house saint Bernard dog, Basil.
There are many other different things to do on Mount Tamborine ranging from markets, crafts, wine-tastings, laser skirmish, horse riding, through to educational programmes about Australian wildlife. There is a little bit here for everyone and is a perfect place to visit.
