I enjoy writing reviews about things to do and see, and places to go in Geelong. I hope that if you read my weekend notes reviews, you go and try out some of the great restaurants, hotels, bistros and cafes in Geelong.

On Sunday June 1st, as part of a cruise around Geelong, on a wet autumn day, my friend and I took a drive in search of some great destinations, even if it was only for a coffee or a beer. We went to Texas Hamburger and Pizza House on Mercer Street, Geelong first. Next we cruised down to Barwon Heads, to the Barwon Heads Hotel and sat under the huge umbrellas, by a nice warm outdoor heater, sipping on ice cold beer.

The next place we went to was on the other side of Geelong from Barwon Heads. It was a fair old cruise, and quite a relaxing way to spend a wet Sunday. We headed to the Mount Moriac Hotel, or the Mount, as it's now called. At The Mount, I ordered a coffee while my friend enjoyed another pot of the cold stuff. I also ordered a bowl of chips.

We got to the way later than lunch hours. The bar staff were still happy to put on a bowl of chips for me, and the cappuccino was very warming and tasty. Service was excellent as the staff couldn't do enough for us!

is open for lunch and dinner every day of the year. There is a bar, games area with pool tables and darts, a children's play room, a beer garden, function room and restaurant. The Mount also does take-away pizza.
