St Patrick's Anglican Church is bringing back its annual celebration of the festive season with its Mount Lawley Christmas Festival on Sunday, December 8.

With Beaufort Street closed to traffic from Regent Street to Second Avenue free festivities will include photo opportunities with Santa, fun activities for kids such as a water slide, animal farm and camel rides plus plentiful food vans, a licensed bar and live entertainment across two stages.

The festival, which centers around St Patrick's Anglican Church on the corner of First Avenue and Beaufort Street in Mount Lawley stretches across the road into Copley Park and will run from 2pm to 8pm

The finale for the celebration will be carols by candlelight led by the WA Fire and Emergency Services choir, with a little help from Santa on stage to help light the Christmas tree.

Carols will be held on the large front lawn of the church before the lights of the iconic Mount Lawley Christmas Tree on the corner of Beaufort Street and First Avenue, in front of St Patrick's, are switched on.

From 2pm to 6pm, there will be family rides; from 2pm to 8pm there will be high-end artisan stalls with plenty of gift ideas for Christmas, along with food trucks; carols will run from 7pm to 8pm and Christmas tree lights will be turned on at 8pm.

A wide range of food will be available to buy from food trucks including Italian, Indian, Mexican, BBQ and more.

Food trucks will mostly be along the blocked off part of Beaufort St, the artisan markets will be in Copley Park and the kid's corner, including the animal farm, will be in front of St Patrick's Mt Lawley on First Avenue.

Two musical stages, one outside St Patrick's on the corner part of Beaufort St and First Ave, and the other in the permanent rotunda towards the back of Copley Park next to the playground area will provide a host of entertainment.

Patrons looking for a beer or glass of wine will find the bar area near the rotunda stage.

Parish Priest and Chair of the Organising Committee, Father Stephen Conway said locals were encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and find a spot to base themselves for the afternoon, either in Copley Park or on the lawn outside St Patrick's Church.

The day will include ticket sales for a raffle to raise money for the Sir David Brand School in Coolbinia to buy sensory play equipment for children with special needs.

Among the prizes are tickets to see Cold Chisel, courtesy of Zaccaria Concerts and Touring, an overnight hotel stay at DoubleTree by Hilton, two premium tickets to a show at The Regal Theatre, and many more.
