The fun of the fair - food, stalls, rides and much more
Mt Hawthorn Primary School will be holding a huge Old school Community Fair - this will be a free event and celebrate and showcase the surrounding communities. There will be plenty of parking, ramps and disabled park (unusual, as normally there are not enough of these!), and there will be toilets on site.
This is another fair that I will be taking my grandchildren to, as it is close to where I live and it looks well worth while! The fair theme will be "Old School" and they will be celebrating the history of the area, where they have come from as a school, and going back to the old school community values.
CLASS STALLS LIST The following is a list of some of the events/things to do/eat at this fair, and these will be conducted by classes at the school:

ABOUT THE FAIR The Mount Hawthorn Primary School P&C Association host a community fair every two years on the school grounds. This community fair enables the local businesses and community to have the opportunity to become involved in a community event. This in turn, provides everyone with the opportunity to help build a better community, foster a sense of pride within our community, and meet each other. The local businesses provide tremendous support for the various stalls and entertainment that will be at this fair.
FUNDRAISING The funds raised at the Mt Hawthorn Community Fair will benefit the children at Mount Hawthorn Primary School, as well as the general community. Sponsorship has one of two purposes:
1) to contribute funds directly 2) to reduce the costs associated with running the fair
You can buy a ticket for a chance to win "family time." Three great prizes to be won in this and thanks to the sponsors, Adrian Abel and Fleur Hartley of Abel Property. Abel Property believes in "abundance, joy and giving back to the community". They believe in families and old-fashioned values like authenticity and trust.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
The school was built in 1944 and has therefore been going for many years, and things have certainly changed since they started!
Mount Hawthorn Primary School is an Independent Public School catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Education is highly valued by the school community and this is reflected in the "strong tradition of consistently high attendance". The number of students attending this school has risen over the years and they now have approximately 850 children there.
There are classroom extension programmes throughout the school and these are provided so that all students can maximise their potential. When they reach Years 5 and 6, students found to be gifted and those who are talented can then be offered enrichment courses through the Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) programme. Many of their students have gone on to win scholarships to a wide range of secondary schools.
At this school students are also taught how to grow, harvest and prepare vegetables. They also have some specialist teachers from Instrumental Music School Services and these teachers teach the music programme to children in Years 3 to 6 in string, brass, woodwind and percussion. Students can also join the school's band, orchestra and choir. They also have a state of the art library and offer music, Italian, physical education and visual arts as specialist programmes.
All classes are computer networked as the school feels that nowadays this is a "must" and there are several computer laboratories and a tablet device programme for students in the upper school.
