You don't need to be a to be a doctor or a scientist to make a difference – all you need is a big heart, a pair of walking shoes, and a bit of spare time.
Cancer Council Queensland is calling on the local community to show their support at Mount Gravatt's Relay For Life, held at Griffith University's Mount Gravatt Campus, September 20-21.
Relay For Life is an 18 hour event involving teams of up to 15 people keeping a baton moving in a relay style walk or run overnight, to give hope to the one in two Queenslanders diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
All funds raised from this inspiring and memorable event supports vital cancer research, early detection programmes and patient support services.
Everyone who takes part in the Relay makes a difference in the fight against cancer. Many walk in memory of a loved one lost to cancer, to celebrate their survival of cancer, and even as a symbol to show they will keep fighting.
Relay is also a time to give hope and support those in our community affected by cancer by providing the care and encouragement.
Pledge to make a difference by gathering your friends, family, or neighbours and registering at team. To register, simply phone 1300 65 65 85, or visit www.relayforlife.org.au.
Mt Gravatt Relay For Life will be held from 3pm on Saturday, September 20, until 9am Sunday, September 21, at Griffith University's Mount Gravatt Campus. The opening ceremony kicks off at 3pm, followed by plenty of entertainment and fun throughout the night.
Adults can register for just $20 or $15 for under 18's. All participants will receive a shirt and be treated to a sumptuous breakfast on Sunday morning. Age is no barrier, nor is fitness level - Relay for Life is about having fun and showing you care.
