I was surprised to find Mount Fuji Cherry Blossoms in the National Rhododendron Garden. It brought back fond memories of "hanami" or picnicking under flowering canopies of "sakura" or Japanese cherry blossom in Tokyo and Kyoto. The bloom of one of Japan's most famous mountains, Mountain Fuji, begins life as a pink bud which opens into a fragrant and dainty bright white flower. The stands of showy white were beautiful to behold and an excellent accompaniment to sake and sushi in Spring.
