was such a lovely place to stay - the rooms and cabins, the welcoming staff, the stunning tranquil bushland surroundings and its close proximity to loads of attractions makes it an ideal place for a peaceful, romantic getaway.

The reason we booked to stay there was because we were attending the Sirromet Winery Day on The Green - which was incredible - and this was just 5 minutes drive away. Even though it's only 30 minutes drive from both the Gold Coast and Brisbane CBD, being at a winery all day, we certainly were not planning to drive home or get public transport.

They offered a choice of accommodation in beautiful eco cabin pavilions which can be either by the lake or in the treetops or romantic rooms and suites in the main Bed & Breakfast house. We opted for the Garden Room, in the main house which was $210 for the night, which included parking, wifi and breakfast. You can see the room options and prices here .

The room we stayed in was very special - beautifully decorated and the thing that stood out for me was how clean and well kept it was. The bed was super comfy and shower was powerful and they even provided some free chocolates and port.

There is no TV in the room which I liked as we were on a night away, but there is a TV room in the main house together with a BBQ and large dining area. There is also tea and coffee making, a fridge, microwave and toiletries and towels provided.

I have been lucky enough to wake up to stunning beach views before, but never vast bushland right on the door step. We had double doors that opened up into the tropical garden with hectares of nature refuge as far as we could see. If you are an animal lover you may get to see some local wildlife such as wallabies, koalas, possums and goannas plus the area is home to over 77 species of birds. I was slightly concerned with our inevitable hangover that the wildlife would wake us earlier than we would like, but actually the room was very quiet and peaceful. Plus the air con meant we could have the doors and windows shut, to block any noise.

There is loads to do on site and close by - they have their own tropical garden hot tub and private nature refuge which you can relax in and walk around. For the more experienced bushwalker there is a nearby National Park Venman's Reserve - you can take a walk which leads to the Daisy Hill Forest and Koala Centre. Also you can visit Sirromet Winery where you can do a winery tour, or you could just visit the cellar door and sample some great wines, plus the views are spectacular.

I think most of the people staying were also going to the Day on The Green - they even provided a free shuttle bus to take you to and from the event which was great, although they will call a taxi for you if you need.

There were a lot of tired and bleary-eyed looking people in the restaurant the next morning wanting a yummy breakfast, and that's what we all got. Plenty of food available from fruit and cereal to cooked breakfast and coffees, juices and teas. Great food, all cooked really well and plenty of it. They also offer high teas, snacks, lunches and dinner and cater for special events too.

The staff were lovely - the kind of welcome I remember from visiting quaint guest houses in rural England. A real family feel that is causal yet highly professional and attentive. I really wish we had been able to stay another night to really enjoy our surroundings, as the Sirromet event pretty much meant we only slept and had breakfast there. I would have loved to have taken a walk locally and had a romantic home-cooked meal on the evening.

It's a place that will stick with me - somewhere different to where I have stayed in the past and I loved the little touches and attention to detail which made the stay that much better. Plus the family dog on site was adorable and I loved seeing the horse too in the paddock, it just added to the overall feel and setting.

Located on West Mount Cotton Road, it's certainly somewhere I would go back to for a special occasion - I love that you can really stay amongst the most beautiful bushland yet you are only 30 minutes from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
