So much beauty and not just in the name
Nestled among high and beautiful mountains, around 4 hours and 45 minutes' drive from Melbourne CBD is a small, welcoming and charming town that goes by the name of Mount Beauty.
From Markets, nearby waterfalls and bushwalking, mountain bike riding, and golf, to fishing, picnicking at the lakes and streams, parks and visiting the local vineyards. During warmer weather, you can enjoy a scenic flight in a high wing Cessna Hawk XP. You can take to the air in a hot air balloon or maybe horseback riding is more your style?
Whatever your style, likes, age and/or ability, there is something for everybody to enjoy whilst they relax and take in the towering mountains, many birds and animals and just enjoy the homely town of Mount Beauty.
In and around the town you will find some fantastic wineries/breweries. You can pop in a have a taste of some great wines and beers, spirits and other fantastic and refreshing brews. Find something you like? You can purchase some onsite to take away with you, enjoy it later whilst sitting on the balcony looking at the beautiful mountains, or take it home to enjoy with friends. The wineries/breweries in Mount Beauty and close by are Annapurna Estate Winery, Bogong Estate, Ceccanti Kiewa Valley Wines and Sweetwater Brewing Company.
Mount Beauty Township has plenty of good places to eat, both eat in and takeaway. From fish and chips (great ones) to pizza, and bistros, restaurants etc. There will be something to suit most tastes and wants. Just jump in the car and go for a short drive and you will find the perfect place for a nice hot meal.
If you are looking for a place to stay, you will find a few different options in the town itself and then more in the surrounding towns. From Motels, Bed and Breakfasts, A spa village, Units and self-contained holiday units. I stayed at Alpenhorn Holiday Units while I was in town and highly recommend the self-contained units.
So there is plenty to see, plenty to do and plenty of relaxation just waiting for you in this small but fantastic town. The mountains are magnificent and the mountain air will do wonders for a head that just needs a break for a short while. So pack up the family (or just pack yourself) and head to Mount Beauty for a little while.
