This huge annual 146th show is always held in March and is a good old-fashioned country show where you could spend the whole day looking over all the exhibits.

It is an agricultural show featuring indoor and outdoor exhibits and market stalls, with items/livestock/food/crafts etc from locals, as well as surrounding towns.

A great family day with heaps to do and see for the whole family.



There is a lot happening at this show and some of the entertainment includes:

  • Locked and Loaded Laser Skirmish
  • Carnival Amusements
  • Camel Rides
  • Bouncy Castle
  • Mini Golf
  • Face Painting
  • Giant Climbing Wall
  • Clover Leaf Trail

  • [b]Pre-show dinner[/b]
    There will be a pre-show dinner on Saturday 10th February, 2018 and this will be at the St Pauls Lutheran Church Hall, 10 Main Street, Hahndorf. Be there from 6.00 pm for a 6.30 pm start and the cost is just $25 per head for a 3-course meal, and BYO drinks.

    The winners of the Garden Competition will be announced at this dinner, and it will be a fun night, so make your booking by phoning 0499 435 314.

    [b]Apple Pie Competition[/b]
    There will also be a Best Apple Pie Competition and there will be three prizes awarded. All pies remain the property of the show, and will be served as dessert at the above dinner!

    [b]Art/Colouring-in/Photography**
    There are many competitions you can enter at this Agricultural show and there is a "creative" section which has displays by local talent of all ages, and is divided into age groups and subjects. Make sure you go to this section, even if you do not have an entry in it, as it will be very interesting.

    [b]Seniors[/b]
    There are also many events for Seniors to enter into and these include sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, tapestry, babies bootees, and heaps more, and you can see the complete list at this site.

    [b]Special Needs Exhibitors[/b]
    There is also a large section for special needs exhibitors, and these include certain cooking, plum jam, handicrafts, and you can see the list at this site.

    [b]Other Events[/b]
    Other Events which will return this year are:

  • The pub waiters' race
  • Rose society autumn rose show



  • [b]Animals[/b]
    If you have a family pet that you love, you can enter him or her into one of the more popular attractions, the Family Pet Section.

    This is open to owners of all ages, and is a great opportunity for children to get involved in an exciting event!

    Animals are always a favourite at shows, and this show is no exception - livestock on show will be:

  • Miniature goats
  • Beef Cattle - European Breeds, British Breed
  • Sheep - Romney, Border Leister, Suffolk, White Suffolk
  • Dairy Goats - Saanen, Toggenburg, British Alpine, Anglo Nubian
  • Poultry - Large Fowl, Old English Game, Modern Game, Bantams Soft-Feather, Ducks, Geese, and Turkeys
  • Donkeys - Includes mules as well as donkeys

  • Parade of Champions (3.00 pm)

  • The Young Farmer's Challenge is a fun event open to anyone over 18 years of age. There will be teams of four people who have to complete 8 challenges against each other. Teams can enter prior to show day, or on the actual day.

    [b]Wine and Beer[/b]
    An unusual event at this Show is the championship beer, wine and other beverages sections and these are all for homemade brews.

    [b]Market stalls[/b]
    There will be market stalls with lots of homemade wares and crafts.

    You will be able to buy gifts and there will be an exciting selection of stalls to look through, from homewares through to jewellery, to cakes, children's clothes, fresh produce, and pot plants. You are sure to find something for all ages!

    General admission: Adults $10
    Pensioners/students & concession card holders: $5
    Children under 12: free

    Pre-show ticket sales are available from the Mt Barker Central Newsagency and Mt Barker IGA until the Friday before the show and are:
