About Mount Avoca Winery Mount Avoca have been going for about 50 years and it began with the dream of a Melbourne stock-broker who wanted a tree change.
The estate is located just outside the town of Avoca. Avoca is a historic and quaint town which was a pioneer in the Gold Rush era. It is an idyllic area for farming and has played an important part in this industry.
The first vines of Trebbiano and Shiraz were planted in 1970 and over the next 25 years, the vineyard grew steadily. Mount Avoca has since grown and has taken over 60 acres of different varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. These are all award-winning wines, and there is also an olive growing area of some 600 trees.
