Cheese, cheese, and more cheese - what a delightful idea
Cheese - there is so much I can say about cheese as it is one of my "staple" foods and one I would not want to give up ever! And after looking at photos for this event, it's off to the shops for me to find more great Aussie cheeses for that cheese fix!



I love all sorts of cheese and there are so many you can easily buy nowadays, unlike many years ago when there were just a few different types of Australian cheeses freely available - to get good imported ones, you had to find specialty shops!



Whether it's hard or soft, blue or white, fresh or aged, most Australians love their cheese.



Perhaps you eat them from platters, on pasta, in salads, between slices of bread, "via an intravenous drip" or slathered on plywood, most of us just cannot get enough of this delightful food.



Due to this and public demand, MOULD: A Cheese Festival will be returning in 2018. It will be held on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th May, 2018 at 5 Blackwood Street, North Melbourne.

This is a Festival which celebrates all Australian cheeses and is presented by REVEL (who bring you Pinot Palooza and more), in partnership with Nick Haddow of Bruny Island Cheese in Tasmania.



Cheese lovers - you can expect the best producers from around the country, including the following companies:

They will all be showing you their produce at North Melbourne's Meat Market in a "farmers'-market-turned-festival" style setting. There will also be the added bonus of cooking demonstrations and masterclasses with chefs making their best cheesy dishes.

Not only will there be Australia's best cheeses, but there will also be the best Australian cheese-mongers, including:

Maker & Monger with their flaming Reubens Fondue grilled sandwich at $10; Flaming Reuben grilled sandwich at $12; and Aligot (evening session only) at $12



Harper & Blohm with their Raclette (GF) at $12; blue cheese grilled sandwich (V) at $11; and Welsh Rarebit at $11

Burn City Smokers with their grilled corn with truffle Pecorino and Mexican chilli at $4; Smoked cheese kransky hot-dog with mustard, barbecue sauce and aged Gruyere at $13; Brisket burger with pickles, mustard and Monetary Jack cheese at $15

That's Amore with their four cheese gnocchi tossed in an Australian Pecorino wheel (V) at $13; porchetta panini with cheese and slaw at $12; traditional cannoli stuffed with sweet ricotta, cinnamon and pistachio crumb (V) at $5 each; and lemon cannoli stuffed with sweet ricotta and lemon curd (V) at $5 each

Little Latin Lucy with their chicken, chorizo, red wine and tomato tostada topped with manchego and roquette salad at $6; and smoked mushroom tostada with cactus, lime pickled onion and truffled feta at $6

To go with the cheeses, there will be Tivoli Road Bakery who will have their delicious breads and other baked goods, including cheddar and kimchi Danish at $6; Stilton and pickled walnut galette at $6; doughnuts at $4; pastries $4 to $6; and bread $7 to $9

It wouldn't be a REVEL event without a considered and well-stocked bar. To drink alongside all the cheese, there will be a bar stocked with a range of awesome wines, whiskies, gins, beers, ciders, sakes and more, all selected for their individual cheese-matching abilities.

There will be:
80 Cheeses
20 producers
3 sessions

So as to alleviate any queues at the festival, MOULD: A Cheese Festival will run over 3 sessions - a Friday night session (5.00 pm to 9.00 pm) as well as two Saturday day sessions (11.00 am to 4.00 pm), and this is so that there are less people (as less people means more cheese for each person!). However, it also means that tickets will sell out quickly, so head on down to this site to book your tickets so you don't miss out!

Tickets are $45 and include unlimited cheese, tastings, talks, a glass of wine from the bar and a Plumm wine glass.
