I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

From Farm To Plate
Staying at Lovedale on a recent weekend we were not close enough to local restaurants to walk to dinner. After a day of wine tasting we were not up for driving hence we decided to have our Saturday night dinner catered by Melissa O'Toole of Motty's Farm Cuisine.

The process was a simple as emailing the menu out to the guests and selecting the two most popular options for each course. We chose from the Autumn/Winter menu.

Melissa and her offsider, Melanie, arrived at 6.45pm and we were eating by 7pm. The two Mels set the table, served three delicious courses of home cooked family style food and cleaned up.

Mushroom entree

We dined on pumpkin soup & stuffed mushrooms served with fresh bread rolls. The mains were lamb shanks and a red wine beef casserole with fresh garden vegetables and were perfect for the cool night. Desserts of apple crumble and sticky date pudding with ice cream were delicious and well received.

Our home chefs were all packed up and gone within 2 hours, leaving behind happy, well-fed customers. The dinner was easily organised via email and phone and the biggest challenge was for everyone to remember what they had ordered.
